about me

Gregory Geiger is a queer artist living in Alameda, California; a lead type lover, comic-book fan, darkroom dweller, and devotee of the power of steam. A founding member of 1/5th As Good, with a BFA from SFAI, and an MFA from Mills College; exhibiting photography on both the east and west coasts, performing at the SFMOMA, as well as in many non-traditional formats around the country and internationally. Currently making photographic work that is leveraging how memory, modern pop-media, and visual perception mold our experience of beauty, where pictorialism has a place in our contemporary society, and the classic techniques of photography as physical craft.

Geiger's work is full of dark, obscured, exquisitely lit things. An ominous elegance that asks viewers to look much closer. Where things are slightly abstracted using playful perspectives but with an edge, like a beautiful tragedy has taken place.
