about me

Gregory Geiger is a queer artist based in Alameda, California—a typographic romantic, comic book devotee, darkroom traditionalist, and fervent believer in the transformative power of steam. They is a founding member of 1/5th As Good and holds a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and an MFA from Mills College.

Geiger has exhibited widely along both U.S. coasts, performed at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and presented work in both conventional and experimental formats across the country and internationally. His current photographic practice explores the intersection of memory, pop media, and perception—reviving classical photographic techniques to explore contemporary ideas of beauty, desire, and visual pleasure.

Geiger's work is full of dark, obscured, exquisitely lit things. An ominous elegance that asks viewers to look much closer. Where things are slightly abstracted using playful perspectives but with an edge, like a beautiful tragedy has taken place.
